More Household Tips

Folks want to call them life hacks. Whatever your nomenclature, we all have those tips and hints that makes life a little easier. Household Tips Part One has a few. Here's some that came to mind this week.

I use butter as my fat to make biscuits. Grate the butter into your flour mix and the biscuits come together lighting fast. Plus, since you don't have to over work your mix, the biscuits come out super fluffy.

Making tea on the stove top and your bag tags keep catching fire? Dip the tags in your water, then stick them to the pot handle. That keeps them off the burner and allows the tea to steep.

Smelly boots and shoes? Fill an old sock with baking soda and leave in the offending footwear. It removes the odor overnight and doesn't leave a bunch of powder residue like most odor removing remedies.

Carmex is excellent as a topical first aid ointment. It heals cuts and abrasions, and it's cheaper than antibiotic ointment.

Having trouble finding the time to read? Play the book on your car through your app and input jack. My car has bluetooth, so I can play whatever is on my phone. I am currently listening to the Bible and made it through most of Matthew in just three days. This is also good for those assignment readings. Most of the epics and classics are free audio books.

Struggling in the morning to get the kids ready on time? Lay out their entire weeks' wardrobe on Sunday. Not having to struggle with what to wear cuts out 10-15 minutes sometimes. Heck, 5 minutes can make the difference in catching the bus or getting chewed out the whole drive to school by Mom.

Plan your meals for the week including utilizing leftovers. We're having chili this week, and the next day we're having Philly chili five-way.

Static electricity making you sound like you have turrets? Put a dryer sheet in your sock or in your pocket.

What are some of your favorite time savers and tips?
